Our Opportunity
The Solution Architect is a leader that works under limited direction exercising autonomy and accountability. As part of a small team of experienced Enterprise and Solution Architects in the Strategy and Architecture Team, the position is responsible for specifying solution architectures to meet complex business requirements, considering the technical and commercial implications of the solution. The role needs to cover all aspects of solution design, including setting context, defining component, implementation and information perspectives, and ensuring that security and resilience are appropriate. You will work closely with business and technical staff to ensure that the solution takes all requirements into account and is well understood by the relevant stakeholders.
We are looking to fill this position on an ongoing basis. Future positions may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis subject to operational requirements. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for a specified term of up to 12 months.
At the end of the recruitment process, a merit pool of suitable candidates may be created. Those found suitable will be advised that they have been placed in the pool. The merit pool is valid for 18 months from the date the process was advertised. The merit pool may be used throughout the period to fill similar positions in the event positions become vacant.
Job specific capabilities
The right person for this role will:
- Demonstrate strong leadership skills, guiding technical and project teams towards architecturally sound decision making
- Employ an agile mindset and collaborative approach in delivering Agency outcomes
- Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams in the Agency, establishing and nurturing networks by valuing individual differences and diversity
- 2+ years of experience with solution architecture and/or experience in the design & delivery of complex systems in an enterprise environment
- Ability to explain or translate complex findings to a range of business and technical stakeholders. Communication, negotiation and liaison skills of a high order
- Ability to develop concise detailed system, data, user, interaction diagrams and associated documentation
- A demonstrable passion for learning and a dedication to working collaboratively
- Respond proactively to feedback. Be willing to develop and apply new skills while adapting to changing demand
- Engage professionally with risk and challenge the status quo to facilitate achievement of strategic outcome
- Align technical decisions with broader business strategies. The candidate should envision solutions that not only solve the immediate challenges but also contribute to achieving the long-term strategic outcomes
- Knowledge of architecture concepts, methodologies and techniques.
The following knowledge will be considered highly desirable:
- Deep architectural knowledge: A robust understanding of architectural principles, patterns and frameworks, accompanied by practical experience in their implementation
- The Essential 8: The candidate should understand the ACSC’s Essential 8 mitigation strategies.
