Our Opportunity

The Assistant Director, Integrity is an experienced subject matter expert in APS integrity, fraud, and corruption. Working under limited direction, this role exercises reasonable autonomy and accountability.

 

As the Assistant Director, Integrity, your duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • perform the role of technical specialist for fraud and corruption and provide a central point for advice on identifying potential fraud or corruption including ineffective control measures
  • initially assess fraud and corruption allegations and provide analysis on what evidence is available, and identify potential criminal cases, providing ongoing support to investigations or external referral where required
  • facilitate assessment of fraud and corruption risks at the enterprise level and update plans and agreed control treatments for any emerging issues
  • support internal compliance reporting with trends/themes and insights for executive audiences
  • advise on integrity issues
  • support the I&S section as directed.

Job specific capabilities

The right person for this role will possess the following:

  • Critical thinking - the ability to analyse and respond, using sound judgement for decision-making
  • Experience with implementing Australian Government Integrity/ Fraud and Corruption practices including conduct of investigations
  • Effective organisational awareness and ability to tailor communication and operational approaches to meet the needs of the intended audiences and situations
  • Creativity - identify and implement innovative ideas or approaches to drive framework implementation and continuous improvement
  • High level knowledge of relevant sources, standards, frameworks, policies, guidelines, legislation, and best practice models
  • Ability to breakdown technical concepts and explain them to stakeholders in an easy-to-understand manner
  • Excellent stakeholder relationship management skills including the ability to negotiate persuasively
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to balance competing priorities to deliver quality outcomes
  • Ability to monitor service delivery and respond credibly and efficiently to stakeholder needs, reactions, or feedback.

 

To be successful for this role you must have:

  • Certificate IV in Government Security (Fraud Control) or Government Investigations (or equivalent/higher).
