Our Opportunity

The Assistant Director, Internal Communications is responsible for leading a small team of communication professionals to deliver quality and timely internal communications advice and support. This includes working collaboratively across the organisation to plan, implement and evaluate effective communication solutions to achieve business objectives. The role requires a confident, organised and results driven professional who has outstanding judgment, can work autonomously and influence effectively, and translate priorities to plan, deliver and evaluate effective internal communication initiatives.

 

The successful applicant will need a high level of expertise and knowledge of contemporary communication practices. As a senior member of the Communications team, you will:

 

  • Lead, mentor and inspire a small, dynamic communication team
  • Deliver and support engaging and innovative communication plans and internal events that align to IP Australia’s corporate objectives
  • Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues, managers, and key stakeholders
  • Provide communication advice, support and guidance to business areas to successfully deliver business outcomes.

 

We are looking to fill this position on an ongoing basis. Future positions may be offered on an ongoing or non-ongoing basis subject to operational requirements. Where a non-ongoing position is offered, the role will be filled for a specified term of up to 12 months.

 

At the end of the recruitment process, a merit pool of suitable candidates may be created. Those found suitable will be advised that they have been placed in the pool. The merit pool is valid for 18 months from the date the process was advertised. The merit pool may be used throughout the period to fill similar positions in the event positions become vacant.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder liaison skills
  • The ability to plan, prioritise and execute work to meet deadlines
  • The ability to be flexible and dynamic in response to changing priorities
  • Ability to develop and manage key relationships with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Qualifications, and demonstrated working knowledge, in communications or related field is highly desirable.
