Our Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Web Content Lead to drive content strategy and delivery for IP Australia’s corporate website. Reporting to the Product Owner, you will play a key role in shaping how our digital content informs, engages, and supports our diverse audiences.
The Web Content Lead operates under limited direction to develop, manage and maintain high-quality, accessible, and policy-compliant content across the IP Australia website. This role ensures that digital content supports strategic objectives, meets user needs, and complies with government standards for accessibility, search engine optimisation, and analytics-driven improvement. The Web Content Lead is also responsible for providing support to the Website Product Owner by developing a deep understanding of the product life cycle, assisting with prioritisation of digital initiatives, and providing continuity of leadership and decision-making in the Product Owner’s absence.
Job specific duties include:
- Write, edit, and publish content that is accurate, engaging, and accessible
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to translate complex legal and technical information into plain English
- Develop and implement long term content strategies aligned with agency goals and user needs
- Establish and maintain content governance frameworks, including style guides and editorial workflows, ensuring risks are identified and managed for high-visibility content
- Implement search engine optimisation best practices to improve search visibility and user engagement
- Conduct keyword research and optimise metadata, headings, and page structure
- Monitor website performance using analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Site Improve) and provide actionable insights
- Report on content effectiveness and recommend improvements based on user behaviour and search trends
- Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure content accuracy and relevance
- Ensure all content complies with accessibility standards, Australian Government Digital Service Standard, and agency-specific policies
- Support the Website Product Owner by developing knowledge of the product life cycle and assisting with the prioritisation of digital initiatives, including negotiating competing priorities with senior stakeholders
- Provide continuity of leadership and decision-making in the absence of the Product Owner.
Job specific capabilities
We are looking for someone who has:
- demonstrated experience in digital content strategy, creation, and governance, including contributing to long term planning and decision making
- ability to drive change and align content with agency goals and objectives
- strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences
- proven experience in search engine optimisation implementation and using analytics tools to inform content decisions
- knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG), and user-centered design principles
- experience using content management systems (Sitecore is desirable, but not essential)
- excellent stakeholder engagement and project coordination skills, with the ability to negotiate priorities and influence outcomes, and
- strong data literacy skills to use analytics and feedback to refine content.
