Our Opportunity

As the Network Engineer, you would be responsible for the implementation of new solutions, upgrades, day to day maintenance for the network, and complex troubleshooting. The Network Engineer works with limited direction, shows strong initiative and innovation and is expected report on progress. The successful candidate will work with multiple stakeholders including external vendors and internal customers.

 

We are looking to fill this position on an ongoing basis. 

 

At the end of the recruitment process, a merit pool of suitable candidates may be created. Those found suitable will be advised that they have been placed in the pool. The merit pool is valid for 18 months from the date the process was advertised. The merit pool may be used throughout the period to fill similar positions in the event positions become vacant. 
 

 

 

Job specific capabilities

 

The specific duties of the Network Engineer include, but are not limited to:

 

•    Provide specialist level 3 Network support to the user base of IP Australia and their DTG colleagues, and work with vendors to provide successful outcomes
•    Take ownership to manage updates and improvements to Network Infrastructure, standards, guidelines, procedures, documentation, diagrams
•    Competencies in fault diagnosis, root cause analysis and taking effective and timely remedial action where required
•    Experience in SDN technologies such as Cisco ACI, Security Firewall, F5 Local Traffic Managers, Zscaler, WLAN, LAN, and WAN infrastructure
•    A strong commitment to ensure strict compliance to security policies and procedures
•    Manage and oversee the life cycle of the ITG IMS queues to ensure appropriate resolution and closure of tickets assigned
•    Commitment to the Major Incident Process, being able to involve in incident response, and ensuring that senior staff and the incident manager are kept informed
•    Strong communication and negotiation skills, drive change, resolve problems, and assist in project planning driving successful outcomes
•    Show accountability and commitment, achieve stated goals and objectives, take ownership and honour commitments
•    Promote a workplace environment where peers and colleagues are appreciated and motivated to develop skills and openly discuss ideas to encourage resolution and knowledge transfer
•    Have passion to acquire new skills and drive continuous improvement for IPA systems
•    Demonstrate attitudes and behaviours responsive to positive workplace culture
•    Ability to represent the Networks and Communications team and Infrastructure Technology Operations at meetings.
