This recruitment process will be used to fill three current vacancies on an ongoing basis, as well as create a merit pool that will be used to fill APS Level 6 ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies that may arise over the next 18 months in similar roles.

AskHR Team Leader

The AskHR Team is the first point of contact for all HR matters. AskHR provides expert and contemporary support and guidance to employees and managers on a range of HR matters. The Team Leader provides critical support and leadership to a small team. They have strong communication and judgement skills as well as a working knowledge of relevant industrial frameworks and legislation.

 

Senior Employee Relations Advisor

As the Senior Employee Relations Advisor, you will be part of the HR leadership team and vital in developing and implementing IP Australia's employment framework. You will be an experienced industrial relations professional who is client-focused, has excellent communication skills and attention to detail. You will support the Assistant Director of Employee Relations in providing advice and support on complex industrial matters to managers and employees with a focus on effective and efficient resolution of matters.

 

WHS Advisor

The Work Health and Safety officer (WHS) is responsible for the operational delivery of the IP Australia WHS Strategy. Under broad direction from the Assistant Director WHS, the WHS Officer will deliver expert WHS advice and guidance in line with legislation and best practice, coordinate compliance activities including risk assessments and incident reporting and analyse WHS data and contribute to developing evidence-based initiatives.

Job specific capabilities

Our successful candidate:

 

•    can apply comprehensive knowledge of HR functions to address complex matters and/or undertake thorough analysis
•    can build and maintain relationships with a range of clients, using exceptional communication skills to provide expert advice and recommendations on HR functions 
•    can research, maintain knowledge of, interpret, and apply relevant HR standards, frameworks, policies, guidelines and legislation to deliver end-to-end HR functions
•    is aware of the type of data created and used in own work area and has the ability to use the data systems and tools available
•    provides input into the development of solutions for complex situations, questioning conventional approaches, and making recommendations 
•    works collaboratively across business groups to negotiate and manage service activities, achieving the best result for clients
•    can demonstrated ability to work well/supervise a dispersed team
•    displays adaptability and flexibility in changing circumstances and diverse situations, and
•    identifies, captures, and actively drives change activities, including supporting others to adapt to change and improve the broader team.
